AOL TEXT CONVERTER (Adam Wunn)
This simple Autotyper will change all text files created or saved in America Online text format (TEXT/AOqc) to Appleユs Teachtext/ SimpleText format (TEXT/ttxt) for easy viewing. You will find this quite handy for sharing text files with other people who do not have America Online, and so you do not have to open America Online application every time you want to view a text file created with AOL.
This application is a drag and drop. Thus, it requires System 7. Drag any number of AOL Text files onto the application icon and it will perform its miracle. You can even drag a folder containing AOL text documents. It will ignore all foreign items, so if you drag anything that is not a text document onto the icon, it will not be affected.
Lauded by Software of the Month Club as a メtime saverモ.
BASIC COLORS DESKTOP PATTERNS (Adam Wunn)
This is a ppat Desktop Textures file that offer patterns made from the 8 bit System palette of 34 colors (which includes black and white). I have also included some variations on the basic color to show what can be done to make simple ppats. You donユt need crazy backgrounds to be different. Solid colors are classy and are just enough different to show that your Mac is not just a generic out-of-the-box machine.
BEST MAC INTERNET SITES (Adam Wunn)
This is an information file stored as a Applications. It lists the best Macintosh Internet sites around. Furthermore, each of the best sites are graded and a brief description is also available. This is handy for Mac users because there are so many sites out there that have nothing to do with Macs! This Application cuts through the clutter and provides users with a listing of the best!
Download it if Internet is new or old to you! Its worth it!
COLOR TREK ICON ANTHOLOGY (Adam Goss)
Presented for your enjoyment, here is a collection of more than 200 icons depicting people, places, and things from the Star Trek saga. From Andorians to the Enterprise-D, from Deep Space Nine to Tribbles, these color icon-folders are the product of two and a half years' work. Almost all are my own creations; a few I found here and there already made -- to their creators, this user gives many thanks.
Keep your eyes peeled for more Trek icons in a few more months, as well as icons from the following: Blade Runner, Star Wars, Max Headroom and many others. A descriptive list of all the icons, both those in this package and those to come, will also be included, for those of you wanting to know where some of my ideas come from.
EUDORA LIGHT COLOR ICONS PATCH (Adam Wunn)
This patch makes several changes to Eudora Light from Qualcomm. Specifically, the patch adds color icons, cicn resources, etc. and color menus. These interface modifications are intended to make the black and white interface of Eudora look more aesthetically pleasing, professional and more like its commercial counterpart. Qualcomm does not endorse this patch in any way.
FINDER MENU PATCH (Adam Wunn)
This patch applies a series of menu commands to the Finder menus.
How often do you wish that items like メRestartモ and メEmpty Trashモ had command keys? For those of you who do not know what command keys are, they are the letters after a menu item. When these letters are selected on the keyboard, in tandem with the command key, they provide the same reaction as when you select an item from the メFileモ menu for instance. If you do not currently use command keys, learn to use them; they save time and are very cool! If you already know how to use them, then be prepared to be blown away at the genius of this patch.
Currently available for the following System Software versions:
6.0.7, 6.0.8, 7.0.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.1.1, 7.1P, 7.1P2, 7.1P3, 7.1P5, 7.1P6, 7.1.2 (Native), 7.5 (FAT), 7.5.1 (FAT), 7.5.2 (Native), and a patch that encompasses versions 7.5.3 (FAT), 7.5.4 (FAT), and 7.5.5 (FAT).
FONTS (Adam Wunn)
PACKAGES:
Everymanユs Font Collection. WUNN-WAY software presents the Everyman Font Collection, a riveting compilation of 50 unique fonts ranging from text to title to specialty. No look-alike faces or recreations of the same old boring fonts in this collection. Some of WUNN-WAYユs most popular shareware fonts are included in the package as well as many that have never been seen anywhere else. Typefaces included are: AlaskanNights; Alli; Allison; Bagheera Lean, Fat, LeftPaw, and RightPaw; Big Blue; Collins; DailyPlanet Black, and BlackOblique; Danielle Roman, Italic, Bold, and BoldItalic; DavidCopperfield Roman, Italic, Bold, and BoldItalic; DemocracyFreeForm; Driveby; Flechtner Roman, Italic, Outline, Extended, ExtendedItalic, Compressed, and Condensed; Gambler; Heidi Caps; IchabodCrane; John Hancock Book, and Demi; Moof; No Parking; SundayStrip Filled, and Outline; Trevor; TrumanScript; Tyler Slanted, Upright, and Upstream; Ugly; Virtual, and Virtual Explosion; WackyShadow; WARP FACTOR 7; and Winwood, and Winwood Condensed.
INDIVIDUAL:
Alaskan Nights is a Sans-serif ice font. The best way to describe it is to liken to the font used on the bags of ice sold in the stores. Extremely cold ice and snow hangs precipitously from every top and crevice of every letter and symbol. Talk about the メcold type.モ
Alli would make a Zebra proud! Uniform strips following a precise -50 degree angle flow across each character. Very cool at small and large sizes.
Bagheera is lithe and solid at the same time, this display sans serif font is as cunning and sleek as a certain black Siamese I know! The family includes the following styles: Lean, Fat, Left Paw, Right Paw, and Open Claw. This font features a left facing italic.
BigBlue is a pseudo IBM logo looking font with vertical uniform stripes.
Daily Planet-Black and Black Oblique are text/title fonts that are based on the mastheads of many popular turn-of- the-century to mid-century newspapers. While fairly clean, they has a slightly rough quality to them. The curves are more subtle than most text fonts and they have a straight-forward design with few frills. The base of these fonts are thick alternated by subtle curving sides. They are also tall and somewhat narrow.
Danielle is another text font that will undoubtedly look like some other text font to someone, but to me, it is as unique as the person it is named after. It is readable at small sizes with a plethora of hints and over 3,000 kerning pairs. It has an almost complete character set with all the characters a professional graphic designer or typesetter will ever need. It prints well to typesetters as well as 9 pin dot matax printers. It comes in 5 weights, four presented here: roman, italic, bold, bold italic, and separately Black. It is slightly narrower than a normal text font and has flared serifs for the capitals and somewhat subdued serifs for the lowercase set. The italics are true italics with a brush script feel to them. In essence this font is a bit heavier in overall tone than most text fonts, but this makes it more readable as a title font, however, it is a bit less heavy at smaller sizes to keep it readable as text. I wanted a text font that was not too bold, but did not also just disappear into the depths of nothingness. The point is, this text typeface is unique and different. Give it a spin!
Driveby is a display sans-serif font that participated in too many gun fights. Holes of various sizes compound to form larger holes at irregular intervals. It is a truly holey font! :) Since this is a display font, it lacks all but the basic characters. There is only an upper-case set, but to alleviate annoyance, I have copied the upper-case to the lower-case positions. Numbers and shift number characters are present as well as some punctuation.
Gambler is a rough-hewn old-west font that would probably live on the handmade sign hanging from the stoop of a barber shop or a livery stable. It is narrow and very bold in most quadrants of the font, save for some transition areas, such as some curves or corners, to add some variation.
John Hancock Book and Demi are fonts created in the spirit of the John Hancock (as in insurance company) logo. The capital letters have a large cap height and the lowercase letters have an extremely low x-height. The wide width of the characters coupled with the x-height and the cap heigth creates a striking effect. The serifs are more playful and prominent than most serif fonts.
No Parking received its name because it reminded me of those annoying no parking strips at the supermarket. Narrow whitespace and multitudes of strips make this font quite fun!
Pippen Garamond was inspired by that pain in the but relative of all Mac users, the big Apple. It is like the font used in all of their ads, on the front of every Mac and on everything associated with the company. The font is very tight and narrow with light serifs and fairly even ascenders and descenders. The font is very readable, but still maintains a playful look with custom characters like the メpモ with it obtuse ascender.
Truman Script is a simple, brush-stroke font. It is brash, lithe and has a no nonsense attitude. Uncultured and unrefined, this font is for the tough guy who wants a script font. The font is dedicated to President Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) because, like the font, he was brash and had a no-nonsense attitude. Upper-case, lower-case, numbers, shift-numbers, punctuation and accent characters are present.
Tyler Slant is an oblique font that has opposing thick and thin outlines. Very cool!
Virtual and Virtual Explosion. Have you every wanted a very bold and in-your-face shadow font, but could not find one bold enough? Well look no further, because Virtual is here! Blocky, big, bold and in-your-face Virtual is for you. Its cousin explosion is shown from a 12 degree horizontal and -12 vertical angle.
Wacky Shadow is a crazy balloon display font that has a definite 5 oユclock shadow. It was inspired by the public domain bitmap font of yesteryear, Gilbert Shelton . True Type Format.
Winwood and Winwood Condensed. Winwood is a rendition of the font used on Steve Winwoodユs メRoll With Itモ concert tour poster. It is reminiscent of cracked, crumbly, worn-out stone. Abundant holes, nooks and crannies fill the black expanse of this truly holey font. It is not quite as complex as the original for practical reasons (such as printer memory limitations), but it is both complex enough to inspire awe and simple enough so that it will not befuddle higher end output devices. Winwood is an upper-case only font with numbers and some accent and punctuation characters.
Look for other great new fonts in the near future like Glass House, GrimReaper, Scythia, Speed, and TuitionPoor.
GRAYSCALE LASERWRITER LS DRIVER PACKAGE
This driver an altered LaserWriter 300 driver was created to allow Personal LaserWriter LS owners the luxury of enjoying the Grayscale technology (Grayshareェ), faster printing and expanded capabilities, without having to use the LaserWriter 300 driver. The GS LaserWriter LS is personalized for LS owners. The driver is bundled with the Grayscale LaserWriter LS Sharing Guide and the GX LaserWriter LS, QuickDraw GX printer drive, along with several popular WUNN-WAY fonts. This package helps breath new air into a great, but old printer.
This patch changes the LaserWriter 7 & 8 driver to not allow more than one copy be made per print command. This is especially handy for schools and government agencies that are mindful of toner-saving techniques. Any person using this driver will quickly discover that he or she cannot print 85 copies of a document on the LaserWriter while no one else is looking (thus saving himself from having to pay five cents for each copy on a Xerox machine). Of course, the user can just print again when the printer finishes churning out the first request, but that takes longer and is more effort than it is usually worth. This patch will make life easier and less stressful, and more blissful! Ok, maybe not that great, but I do believe it will help.
MICROSOFT WORD, WORKS & CLARIS WORKS EXPANDED DICTIONARY (Adam Wunn)
This is a add-on dictionary for use with Microsoft Word, Works, and Claris Works. This dictionary contains proper names, country names, capitals, common vernaculars, computer terms with specific interest towards Macs, and abbreviations. The idea to create such dictionary started way back in the early days of my Mac development. I found a document on some computer called メDictionary Helperモ. Well I used that and the million and a half of my own added words to create these dictionaries. No longer will you have to click the "add" button every time Word or Works is sure a word like メRussiaモ is misspelled and suggests メRushingモ as a replacement.
This Dictionary is for use with Microsoft Word 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 5.1a and Microsoft Works 2.0 and 3.0.
MEMO PAPER PATCH (Adam Wunn)
This patch changes the メExecutiveモ custom paper size to a メMemoモ custom paper size. The メMemoモ size is used by many organizers such as Claris Organizer. The memo page size is: 6.75 inches by 3.75 inches. Applying this patch will eliminate any printing problems when using your favorite organizer.
This patch applies the concept that was introduced in the メQuick Tipsモ section of the January 1995 issue of Macworld. Proper credit goes to Florin Neumann of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the author of the tip.
MICROSOFT WORKS 2.0 TO 3.0 WORD PROCESSING CONVERTER (Adam Wunn)
If you have ever had to convert one or more Microsoft Works word processing documents, you know how much of a pain this process can be. Also because of the differences between version 2.0 and 3.0, you cannot open older works documents from the desktop (double-click) and instead they must be opened from within Works 3.0. This can be a pain, and it is not necessary.
Drag any number word processing documents, created with version 2.0 through 2.0e, to the Converter icon and they will convert to a MS Works 3.0 format. The documents can then be opened from the desktop.
PERSONAL LASERWRITER LS SHARING GUIDE (Adam Wunn)
Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to share a Personal LaserWriter LS over a network or even between two Macs. Appleユs new Grayshare printer driver update, a software upgrade, allows the LaserWriter Select 300 and the Personal LW LS to be shared. Besides sharing capabilities, the new driver also allows both printers to print 30 shades of gray, thus allowing limited good quality graphics output. For more information about the grayscale feature please see the GS LaserWriter LS Patch on AOL, Internet Sites and BBSs or contact the author.
This guide explains in detail how to connect a few Macs to an LS or a whole network. The guide is organized into scenarios or different ways one might want to share an LS.
PHIL COLLINS DIRECTORY (Adam Wunn)
A in-depth look at every accomplishment by this prolific musician, songwriter and actor. This includes a directory of all songs written or otherwise sung by Phil as well as information about his many stage appearances. If itユs Phil, it is here. This guide is released in application format for easy viewing from any Macintosh. Future versions will contain increasingly larger amounts of information.
SNAZZY FOLDERS (Adam Wunn)
A whole bunch of custom folders to replace the boring plain folders that reign in the land of your hard drive. These folders include custom folder icons for major applications such as MS Word and Pagemaker. These are high-quality icons that will look impressive on any Mac. I created them for my own use in my daily work to spruce up my desktop, and I thought I would pass them along to the public.
SOUNDS: (Adam Goss)
Outrageous Accentム from Monty Pythonユs Holy Grail
Like an Sewer & Thinking it Overム both from Classic Television
A Grasshopper Pleaseム from the Muppet Movie
Bo Chudaム from Star Wars
Just Deal with itム Aliens

Many other sounds are in development. Some include Star Trek, Aliens, Muppets, Classic Television. Look for them soon.
SUITCASE ENHANCEMENT PATCH (Adam Wunn)
This patch makes several changes to Suitcase 3.0 from Symantec. It adds a dozen menu command key shortcuts and changes some aesthetics of the user interface. The changes were made in response to several complaints made by various users. The patch attempts to address several of those complaints. This patch is by no way endorsed by Symantec.
TEACHTEXT/SIMPLETEXT AUTOTYPERS (Adam Wunn)
These two programs automate the metamorphosis text files, belonging to Teachtext and Simpletext, from editable files and read only files. The applications work in the simplest form: drag and drop. They employ System 7ユs drag and drop option which simply means that you drag the document that you want to change to the application and it changes. Whenever either application finishes processing files it will give a progress report. These programs, due to their nature, require System 7!
You can drop a single document on either application or a folder containing thousands of documents. Even if there are documents of other types present, these Autotypers will still work. They will ignore all other document formats and only alter the ones that conform to specifications mentioned herein.
WUNN-WAY TEXTURES (Adam Wunn)
This package of textures is the culmination of several weeks of experimentation using Photoshop to create textures. Using different filters, to alter the appearance of different shapes and colors, was the primary means of the experimentation. This ultimately culminated in the finished product. The three texture files included in this packageムSmart Textures, Spiffy Textures, and Spiffy Textures 2ムare grouped according to style. The Smart Textures file contains backgrounds that blend in but do not become wallflowers. There are no comical images or outlandish, in-your-face graphics. The patterns are subtle and were created to compliment the taste of those users who want their desktop to sing smooth jazz sensations, not Nirvana noisefests (no disrespect intended). The two Spiffy Texture files are more in tune with those users who willingly move the dial from Nirvana to Jim Brickman (new age)ムa balance, if you will. These patterns are a bit more outlandish, a bit more stylish, but still cool to the bone.
